September 10, 2024 –\u00a0El Paso County Parks\u00a0and Community Services, along with DHM\u00a0Design,\u00a0invites citizens to attend the\u00a0Paint Mines Interpretive Park\u00a0Master Plan\u00a02nd\u00a0open house, which will be held on Thursday,\u00a0September 19th, 2024, at\u00a0Swink Hall at the El Paso County Fair and Events Center,\u00a0366 10th Street\u00a0in\u00a0Calhan.\u00a0The open house is scheduled from\u00a06:00 pm to\u00a07:30 pm.\u00a0The public is invited to learn more about the project and voice opinions about the future of\u00a0Paint Mines Interpretive Park, including recommended improvements, management, and maintenance.<\/p>\n

Through a series of poster boards\u00a0and a rolling slide show, project team members will\u00a0highlight the unique\u00a0archaeological and geological\u00a0history of\u00a0the Paint Mines\u00a0and present\u00a0site analysis maps and conceptual\u00a0designs\u00a0for the Master Plan.\u00a0Following the open house, the project team will consider public and stakeholder input during the development of the Master Plan, which will be available for public review in\u00a0fall 2024.<\/p>\n

Review and adoption by the Park Advisory Board and Board of County Commissioners is anticipated in\u00a0late 2024 \/ early 2025.\u00a0Public input will assist El Paso County in\u00a0conserving and preserving\u00a0this wonderful County property, determining\u00a0visitor\u00a0needs, and solidifying recommendations for\u00a0sustainable\u00a0improvements and management\u00a0practices for\u00a0years to come.<\/p>\n
