The new deadline for the tax roll certification is January 24, 2024.\u00a0\u00a0The reason for the delay is to give taxing authorities sufficient time to certify their mill levies and to give county assessors more time to gather data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl Paso County prioritizes the welfare and interests of its residents,\u201d said El Paso County Treasurer and Public Trustee Chuck Broerman.\u00a0By the El Paso County Board of Commissioners taking proactive steps to reduce the county&#8217;s portion of the mill levy, residents will see a substantial $20.5 million dollar \u2013 or nearly 20% \u2013 total reduction in county property tax.<\/p>\n<p>Please be aware that these changes do not alter the first-half payment due date, February 29, 2024. Unfortunately, The Colorado Legislature chose not to extend the payment deadline to ensure that special districts like fire departments, school districts, and other public entities have the revenue to continue to operate.<\/p>\n<p>Once the tax roll process is complete, property owners who haven\u2019t signed up for electronic delivery of tax statements will be mailed their property tax statements by mid-February.\u00a0\u00a0The property tax amount will be available after February 9<sup>th<\/sup> by going to treasurer.elpasoco.com and clicking on <em>Real Estate Property Tax Search and Online payments <\/em>under Online Services.\u00a0\u00a0If you have a mortgage and are escrowing your property taxes, the balances due will be directly provided to your mortgage servicer by February 9<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, there are two payment options for remitting your property tax payments.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Option 1 \u2013 Remit the balance owed in one payment, which is due by April 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<li>Option 2 \u2013 The balance owed can be split into two installments.
